NewslettersThursday April 16 2009Half Marathon progress report...Preparations for the Swartberg Pass 1/2 Marathon running/walking race, 10km race, and 5km fun run are well under way. We have organised the route and the referees (officials from Knysna and Oudtshoorn). We have the water sachets, the T-shirts are organised and the artwork which advertises our main sponsors: Koggelmander, Lazy Lizard, the Municipality, Zwartberg Research & Development (thats our computer software cc), and Bergwater Vineyards. (Many thanks to our sponsors, to those advertised on the T-Shirt, and also to the many places offering accomodation advertised on our entry form.) We are hoping to get a stage, and at least one live singer (maybe two), during the morning of the event, and also a TV for watching the Super 14 matches. Juan will have his PC and glossy photograph printer set up, and Tracey and I will be taking photos during the event so that runners can get their pictures at the finish. Hopefully the turnout this year will be greater than last year, but in any case, we are aiming rather to make it so good that they all come back in droves next year. Outeniqua MarathonSaturday the 25th of April is the Outeniqua Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5km fun run. Some of us have registered already for this race, and I'd like to encourage more to register.
